Spiral wound gaskets should be replaced whenever a flange or boiler access point is disassembled, as they are designed for single-use to ensure a proper seal. Even if the gasket appears visually intact after removal, the metal windings have been permanently deformed to create the seal, and reusing them significantly increases the risk of leaks and pressure loss.
